Mentoring and empowering a generation of women to love, learn and lavish their womb with care.

Kimberly Yhap is a Registered Nurse with over 30 years of experience providing patient care and education in an acute care environment. She is also a Registered Holistic Nutritionist with a focus on menstrual, hormonal and digestive health. She is currently interning for her Fertility Care Practitioner certification, where she instructs single women and couples on issues regarding their fertility and reproductive health and family planning choices.

Kimberly’s passion for women’s hormonal and menstrual health is a result of her own experience and others around her. Her lack of knowledge and quest for answers regarding her reproductive issues, which included menstrual irregularities, four preterm pregnancies, and a stillborn, has fueled her efforts to not only be educated but to educated other women also.

Over the last decade, Kimberly has spoken publicly to church groups, in her private Facebook group as well as one on one. She is keenly aware of the struggles that we as women face every day to maintain our health, and she encourages women in their reproductive ages to join her on the Journey to Reclaiming Wellness.
Kim is on a journey to educate moms with daughters approaching puberty, cycling teenagers, single women, and couples about their menstrual cycle, fertility, and infertility issues. Kimberly practices in Newmarket, and teaches a Fertility Awareness Based Method for family planning and gynecological health. She provides this option for women wanting to become empowered as it relates to their family planning and reproductive health needs without the use of hormones.

Healing our Wounds: Understanding Transgenerational Trauma

Picture
This is our first program with a focus on mental health. It will be offered quarterly with themes catering to youth, women and family and NACCA is pleased to entrust Kamilah Clayton with the stewardship of this program.

Racism and oppressive structures in society have historically affected how people of African descent experience and respond to trauma and we know from studies that an African-centred approach is more effective when working with individuals in the diaspora.

What is Transgenerational Trauma? It is a theory which states that trauma can be passed down from one generation to the next. It affects how we treat others and how we treat ourselves. It impacts our mental health.

Benefits of participation in the workshop

1. Participants will develop/enhance their understanding of Transgenerational Trauma as it relates to the African/AfroCaribbean community.

2. Participants will learn useful Self Care tips and strategies to address the effects of Transgenerational Trauma.
